FM Dendias speaks with Russian counterpart Lavrov

Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias spoke with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday, “at the latter’s initiative”, said the Greek ministry on social media.

On Twitter, in English, the ministry wrote that they discussed “bilateral relations with emphasis on political dialogue, economic and trade relations, as well as cultural issues, especially in light of the 200-year anniversary of the beginning of the Greek war of Independence and the important role that Russia played in Greek independence.”

Dendias also briefed Lavrov on the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, added the ministry.

Finally, Dendias “underlined the importance of keeping channels of communication open and having an open and frank dialogue. However, he expressed concern regarding the prospects of these relations in light of recent developments,” reads the ministry’s third post on Twitter.
